About the Writing Project Several students met at Ms. Kerley-Weeks house during the summer of 2006 for a free writing class. The class met for two hours once a week. Students explored different aspects of writing and completed small samples during each class. Instead of paying for the class, the parents were encouraged to make a donation to a non-profit organization. At the end of the summer, one of the students asked if the class could continue to meet during the school year. Six students wanted to keep meeting and that group of six wrote this book. The goal of the class is to make writing fun. The students in the group participate in a number of extra-curricular activities and this causes them to occasionally miss the Friday afternoon meetings.
